Riddarholmens kammarkör is a mixed chamber choir, based in central Stockholm, Sweden: a group of singers who find it just as important with high musical ambitions as with a warm and generous social atmosphere.

At present, Riddarholmens kammarkör consists of 26 singers between the ages of 25 and 45. There is a great feeling of fellowship among the singers, and those who choose to join the choir become members of a big musical family with a serious attitude towards singing. Riddarholmens kammarkör endeavors to develop musically and gladly embraces new challenging projects.

In October 2013 Riddarholmens kammarkör participated in the international choir contest in Malta organized by Interkultur, and was awarded gold diplomas and won two categories: Chamber Choir and Musica Sacra. Furthermore, the choir was selected for the Grand prix competition and won the prestigious trophy and a prize sum. We have also been awarded gold diplomas 2011 in Budapest, and 2009 in Bratislava together with a special prize for “outstanding artistic performance”. Riddarholmens kammarkör are at the moment rated as 7:th best choir in Interkultur’s top 1000 world ranking.

The repertoire varies due to inclination, timbre as well as the direction in which the choir wishes to develop. Riddarholmens kammarkör originally had its roots in medieval and Renaissance music, but nowadays also sings more modern composers such as Britten, Nystedt, Poulenc, Rachmaninov and Whitacre; sacred as well as profane music.

The choir was founded in 1981 under the name of Stockholms Ungdomskör. However, over the years the choir developed into a pure chamber choir with members of varying age, and in 1992 the name was changed into Riddarholmens kammarkör.
